Located on a steeply sloping site in Dedham with spectacular water views, this property was constrained by zoning and conservation restrictions. After years of owning the small cottage as a second home, the owners wished to make it their primary residence.
A plan was created to enlarge and renovate the structure and a site-conscious design evolved, including a single story addition off the kitchen and a three-level addition off the living room. A new front porch and a lower level workshop were also added. A builder constructed the “shell” and the owners are in the process of finishing the interior themselves.
